Brave She Must Be- A Tribute to All the Mothers

A young girl sits frightened, a test in her hand,

little does she know how her heart will expand,

in just nine short months. She only knows she’s too young for this,

but by the time baby comes not a beat does she miss,

For now she’s a mother, and brave she must be, it flows through her veins like the tide through the sea.

Miles away another woman, heartbroken,

has lost her unborn child, first words never spoken,

she grieves and she cries for the baby she’s lost,

but she’ll rise again, despite what it’s cost,

for she too is a mother, and brave she must be, it flows through her veins like the tide through the sea.

A much older mother sits alone in her home,

She had hoped against hope her estranged son would come,

she knows not how long until peace will be made,

but she waits and she prays, with a love that won’t fade,

for she is a mother and brave she must be, it flows through her veins like the tide through the sea.

A struggling mother who works to meet ends,

finds her daughter is ill, and will not quickly mend,

she doesn’t know how she will save her child’s life,

but she knows she will never give up the fight,

for she is a mother and brave she must be, it flows through her veins like the tide through the sea.

Across every land and corner of earth,

women of all ages and cultures give birth,

to a new generation, teaching goodness and love,

despite daily hardships below and above,

For we are all mothers, and brave must we be, it flows through our veins like the tide through the sea.
